Preserving Heritage with Antique Furniture

Purchasing antique is a good way to preserve our heritage and culture and can be shared and enjoyed by the whole family but also passed onto future generations. There are not many items today that can stand the test of time as the materials used today are not as good quality as you once were able to get. Antiques and antique furniture have already proven their ability to last over 100s of years and will last 100s more. It is for this reason that antique furniture has become one of the most popular choices for family heirlooms to be handed down throughout generations, this is then gaining increases in value and extraordinary reverence as it is passed from generation to generation.

The other benefit of antique furniture is, it is all usable furniture that can be used from day to day use as everyone needs an antique desks or an antique chest of drawers to serve a practical purpose in their home but so will future generations, they are more lightly to re use the pieces when passed down to them.

Driscolls antiques has a large selection of antique furniture for sale on our antiques website and we deliver direct to your home. Our website is updated daily and I am sure you will find that perfect piece to pass down to your children but in the meantime can be used in day to day living.

Hi James

Just a quick line to say we received the table last weekend. We are very pleased with it, as its always a worry buying and not viewing, but that worry is now parked away as it’s a lovely piece. Once again thanks, will come back soon as we also need a mahogany table and chairs for the dining room.

Good morning James,
Hope you are doing fine.
Yesterday the buffet has been delivered. I must say that I am delighted by its quality and workmanship – just awesome. Furthermore I am really impressed by your handling of my order and the fast delivery. I must admit it is the first time I did order a piece of furniture from an antiques shop in UK on internet but I can only recommend you and your company for the excellent service you are providing to your customers. I will certainly consider you, should I order another piece of antique furniture again in future.
With my kindest regards,
Markus

Hi James,
As you promised the military chest arrived early this morning. Unfortunately, the guys had to carry the chest up 4 flights of stairs as the the lift was out of order due to a flood in the block yesterday. Please pass to my thanks.
Re the military chest, it is a lovely honest piece of furniture that I will enjoy for many years to come. Thank you and I shall certainly recommend your services.
Regards,
Richard

The bureau has arrived and is very beautiful – I am delighted.

Do you know anything of its history? It would be very interesting to know where it has been. (Don’t worry if not, but I do wonder who has sat where I am now, and hope they got as much pleasure out if their bureau as I do.)

Thank you for arranging everything so well.

Best wishes

Vote for Driscolls Antiques Ltd for the best antiques shop

To celebrate this year’s National Antiques Week (14th-21st November), Homes & Antiques magazine and Antiques News & Fairs are looking to find Britain’s best antiques shops.

They are asking for people to vote at

http://www.homesandantiques.com/britains-best-antique-shops

voting will be from October until the end of November and the public will be invited to nominate their favourite antiques destinations in five categories:

best antiques shop

best antiques centre

best specialist shop

best mid-century/vintage shop

best auction house

Nominators can win one of 10 great prizes, each with a value of at least £200, from hotel stays to magazine subscriptions.

I would be grateful if any of my customers would be able to vote for us as this will offer good publicity for ourselves and hopefully will win you some prises.

The winning businesses will be announced by TV celebrity Kirstie Allsopp at the Bath Decorative Antiques Fair on 8th March 2012.

‘Too many people are afraid of buying antiques or think they’re expensive,’ says TV presenter Kirstie Allsopp. ‘The message that needs to be sung from the rooftops is this: this is the right way to buy – antiques hold their value in a way that modern furniture simply does not. This initiative is the perfect opportunity for the trade to reach out to new customers.’

‘The antiques and vintage industry is unique in its ability to adapt, and provide true quality, value for money, and quirky individuality,’ says author and Antiques Road show expert Mark Hill. ‘We hope that this campaign and competition will raise the profile of the entire industry at a time when buying vintage or antique is both desirable and fashionable. We have so much to offer, so let’s shout about it.’

I think it will be a very good awareness campaign for antiques and antique furniture businesses.
