Where to buy Chippendale and Hepplewhite antique furniture at reasonable prices
Some very well known and well collected furniture designs were by the two great designers and Cabinet makers Chippendale and Hepplewhite from the 18th-century
Chippendale designs were by Thomas Chippendale from Yorkshire in the Georgian period but he moved to work in London near Covent Garden market and began making and designing pieces of furniture that are still copy today. He made a very interesting book showing all his designs furniture and this book was distributed to over join so many Chippendale style pieces were built in the Georgian and Victorian and Edwardian periods.
Hepplewhite furniture is also well and well collected. George Hepplewhite trained in Lancaster but then moved and worked in London. The book was made with all of his designs of antique furniture and again this is distributed throughout joiners who made and copied his designs throughout the Georgian, Victorian, Edwardian period
To buy these original pieces of furniture today from the Georgian period can be very expensive but a very good alternative to look at is late Victorian and Edwardian copies as these are very good quality built in the Chippendale and Hepplewhite design, but the beauty of these pieces is they are very reasonable to buy today. They can often be more reasonable to buy than modern reproduction furniture in the same design but Edwardian and Victorian pieces are much better quality.
