Driscolls Antiques will be moving soon.

Driscolls antiques will be moving to new premises soon as we are in the final stages of completing the purchase our new business premises. Our new antique furniture warehouse will be 6600sq ft and is on the same industrial estate that we are currently on. We are moving literally around the corner and we should be starting to move by the end of November. Once we have completed on the purchase will put full details on our website with the new address and opening date. Our new antiques warehouse will be spread over two floors with a furniture lift. We will have displays of the larger pieces of antique furniture downstairs a large showroom upstairs. We are currently having the layout designed to work best for our business and make the maximum amount of room for showroom space. We are also having better lighting fitted so you can see the items clear but we are still a 90 % internet based company so please always check our website on a daily basis as we add new antique pieces daily into our newly added items section. Once the move is complete we are hoping to be able to operate much more smoothly and add stock onto our website much quicker.

We Are On The Move, Again !

Driscolls Antiques Ltd have decided to look for larger premises to expand our antique furniture business. We currently rent a 6500 sq foot antique furniture warehouse in clitheroe but we are now looking to buy a unit slightly larger in size and we are looking to stay in the same area. This will be better for several reasons, we will carry a larger amount of stock giving you more choice in antique furniture to buy. We will own our own premises so we can build it / change it to how we want it and the company will be in a better position as it will own a property. Our new premises will be designed to be an eco friendly premises as we will be looking into energy efficient ways to heat and light. Our new antique furniture warehouse will be the same as the set up is at the moment, a clean open space so you can browse around the pieces but our main business will still be internet based. We will keep updating our blog page as we know more details.

Our Antique furniture on Casualty 1909

Driscolls Antiques are suppliers of fine quality antique furniture and we supply, trade members, private members and interior designers. We occasionally supply some very interesting places and one of these places is the BBC television program.

The BBC have bought some of our antique furniture for some of there well known period dramas and you can see several of our pieces on casualty 1909.

You can see a large roll top desk, a bookcase, a settle and several other pieces.

Please look closely at the background props and you will see several of our pieces and when they are finished filming they are moving the pieces onto a different period drama. If you have a television show and you are looking to buy antique furniture as props, please call us for any advice on periods, styles etc as there is always someone here to help.

Antique furniture scam / Fraudster from Dubai

I am writing this to warn all antique sellers to your guard for fraudster from Dubai. I get several emails from fraudsters and most are obviously rubbish but the occasional ones are very clever.
I received an e-mail for the order for five expensive pieces of antique furniture which are displayed on my web site –

1. Huge Victorian Walnut Bar / Shop Cabinet / Bookcase Ca 1870
2. Huge Quadruple Antique Burr Walnut Wardrobe Ca 1860
3. 17th Century Country Oak Court Cupboard
4. Victorian ‘Gillows’ Pollard Oak Sideboard Ca 1860
5. Huge Victorian Breakfront Library Bookcase 1840

It was from an investment company with an email address, telephone number and business address. He even telephoned me and spoke very good English but I was suspicious as all the items he wanted was larger items. He asked me for my bank details and bank postal address so I contacted my bank to see what they thought as I thought there would be no risk if he did a bank transfer. Apparently this is a very common scam, as my bank explained that he would not transfer the money he would send a cheque direct to my bank asking them to cash the funds into my account via the post (unlike electronic transfers this makes the trail to the source of payment more difficult to follow).
The cheque would come from a closed bank account of a business but for far more than I was asking, he would then make up a story that he needs the difference transferred back to his account as he overpaid me and then if I had fallen for the scam the cheque would eventually bounce leaving me massively out of pocket. Luckily this did not happen as I did my investigation work.
But this is to warn you to always please be on your guard as there are some sneaky people out there.
