We have now moved into our new antique furniture warehouse

At last the move is now complete and all our stock is in our new antique furniture warehouse. Our new antique furniture warehouse is over two floors and is over 6500 sq ft large. Our new showroom is easy to browse around and we will be adding much more stock to our website for you to see. From today our photography studio will be set up so we will be updating our website with new stock and this will be done daily again. The move has been very hard work but it is now done and you are welcome to come and view or keep looking on our website for newly added items.

We have decorators coming this weekend so from next week the unit should be completed and we will be back to normal.

Beautiful Antique Mahogany Furniture

Here at Driscolls Antiques Ltd we always get some very beautiful pieces of antique furniture and this week we have had several pieces that stand out from the crowd as they are stunning pieces of mahogany furniture

We have an antique Regency mahogany cross banded linen press that has two cross banded cupboard doors and the interior has five shaped sliding linen trays. the antique press stands on four elegant turned bun feet and is of superb quality and is an unusual small size.

We have an serpentine fronted Victorian mahogany antique chest of drawers that has a serpentine top above serpentine shaped drawers. All the drawers have flamed mahogany fronts with beautifully turned handles and the chest has a beautifully carved top edge and corbels.

We also have an antique Victorian mahogany writing table that has a rectangular top and has two mahogany lined freeze drawers with small turned knobs. The piece stands on four elegant turned legs and again is built from a very fine mahogany timber and is a quality piece. Antique furniture on X factor

Have you seen the antique furniture in the judges houses on X factor. In the background there has been some very nice pieces of antique furniture in the judges houses and it just goes to show how popular antiques are and who buys them. We have had some very similar pieces to the items shown on TV and some of the pieces look very familiar. We have sold to many famous people in the past and to some very good interior designers who supply the rich and famous.  I always notice the antiques in the background and often if you look on my website you can see some very similar examples for sale at very reasonable prices. Has ebay gone mad !

As you may know we do sell lots of our pieces of antique furniture and antique furniture restoration products on ebay. We usually sell especially lots of our tins of antique furniture wax and have been selling them on ebay for over 5 years. Now to our amazement ebay decided to remove our tins of wax and send me a warning over misrepresentation. We were listing our tins of antique furniture wax under the antique furniture category and they said that this is misrepresentation as we are listing under the wrong category. I contacted the useless account manager on ebay and they told me that the correct category the antique furniture wax should be listed under is “vacuum and cleaning products” ??? as I replied this is the complete wrong category as this is wax especially for antique furniture and not normal cleaning products they told me that if I do not list under this category then I can not list them at all. Also they gave my account a red mark until December. Totally stunned I searched the ebay for other antique furniture waxes for sale and as I suspected they are all listed under the antique furniture category. I told the account manager this and they basically told me in not so many words “tough”

So after 6 years of loyal ebay selling this is how I have been rewarded. Thanks ebay.

Coming Soon National Antiques Week

National Antiques Day will become National Antiques Week from November 2009 and this is to promote the antiques trade throughout the u.k. This is to work along side the antiques are green campaign and will display the antiques are green symbol that I previously wrote about in one of my antique blogs. National Antiques Day in 2008 was very successful for antique dealers who promoted this to there customers and new customers by offering special offers.  BADA Association and LAPADA Association are promoting there support over this campaign and thay will be hopefully promoting this through many local newspapers.
The main aim of antiques week is for every antique dealer to encourage newcomers to the antiques world and want especially the younger generation to get involved and aware that antique furniture and antiques are excellent value to buyers.  Much has been written recently about what good value antiques offer – this is the ideal time to promote that fact.

Lambs Antique Cupboard

Occasionally we get some very nice pieces of antique furniture that have been made by very good antique furniture makers. This week we have a superb piece of antique furniture by Lamb of Manchester.
This superb antique cupboard was built in the Victorian period and is made from rosewood. It is stamped by the renowned maker Lamb of Manchester on the locks and sides and has a rectangular top with shaped corners above a deep moulded frieze and three moulded cupboard doors. Each interior has three small drawers above three adjustable shelves and the antique cupboard has half rounded moulded corners, stands on a moulded plinth, has original backboards and is of a superb quality. It is a top quality and is by one of the best makers so it will be a very good investment for the future and is a very usable piece of antique furniture.
