Antique settees
Antique settee or also known as antique sofa is basically seating with upholstered seats, back and arms. Antique settees are large enough on the seats for the minimum of two people to sit. The very first settee was basically a settle which has been used for a very long time, but some came with upholstered cushions.

From the late Georgian, Regency periods, of antique upholstered furniture was being made in a all new styles with more and more upholstery being used. the antique chesterfield was the first settee that was upholstered all over.

Different variations of the antique sofa was made in the Victorian period but earlier examples such as the daybed or chaise lounge, which is a long upholstered seat usually on turned legs and either have a fixed or adjustable head, were made in the regency period. This week we have come across a very nice example of a regency settee, it is made from mahogany and was built around the 1820s. This stunning piece of antique furniture has a scrolled mahogany back with scrolled arms and the piece has a rounded moulded front which stands on four splayed mahogany legs with scrolled feet and brass castors. We have had this settee newly upholstered so it is ready to go into your home. It is difficult to find such quality antique settees now but we do get them in and we only supply the best quality. We have some more upholstered chairs coming in soon so please look on our site more details.

Sets of 8 antique dining Chairs

The Larger the set of antique dining chairs, the harder it is to find as sets of antique dining chairs always got split up over the years to different members of the family. We often see lots of sets of 4 or 6 chairs but anything above that number then it is difficult to find. When we do come across larger sets then they are very popular and this week we have put up for sale two very nice sets of 8 antique mahogany dining chairs.

The first set of 8 chairs is a rare set of antique Regency mahogany dining chairs so they are from a good period and in a very nice style. This set has 2 two carvers and 6 dining chairs each with a curved top rail and inlay above a central beautifully carved lyre back splat. They are unusual as in the centre they have birds eye maple veneered sections and have splayed back legs, beautifully turned front legs and very nice early brown leather seats. They would go with most antique tables and especially period ones. The other very nice set of chairs is a set of 8 Victorian mahogany antique dining chairs which were built only around 10 years after the first set so they are early Victorian. This set of antique chairs are in the hepplewhite design and has 2 carvers and 6 dining chairs, all having a square back with carved uprights and moulded edges. Again they stand on splayed back legs, have tapering front legs and H stretchers for added stability as this is a very good construction.

All our antique furniture is beautifully cleaned and restored and our antique chairs are cleaned with care and if the upholstery is not to your taste then it can be easily replaced.
