What is an antique harness cupboard
An antique harness cupboard is a livery cupboard and they ware used for holding and storing horse harnesses and equipment. Harness cupboards usually have wooden pegs in the top section and drawers below. They are very useful pieces of antique furniture and today are mainly used as kitchen cupboards or hall cupboards. They are very useful for hanging coats and storing away your shoes. We have a very nice harness cupboard for sale and it is Georgian built around 1780s. It is antique oak and has a moulded cornice above two cupboard doors and a central panelled section with shaped raised fielded panels, which is typical for the period. The interior has its original oak hanging hooks/ pegs and the lower section has six oak lined cock beaded drawers with brass swan neck handles, it stands on shaped bracket feet, has its original oak backboards. It is a very nice warm oak in colour and is a very useful piece of antique furniture.
